"I've been to Genes chicken well over 100 times easily. Used to live right next to the place. Try the beef roll, great pizza that will beat any upper Midwest pizzeria hands down. The fried chicken is epic. They also do a family fried chicken meal. So if you come to the largest county fair in Illinois the Sandwich Fair the first Wed thru Sunday Labor Day week you have to check this place out. It's only an hour drive or 60 miles due west of Chicago or 70 miles south of "Rockford."

"Love this place. Best beef rolls ever. I worked here when I was 17 For 2 years - 18 years ago (yikes). The owner not only taught me good work ethic but also that as an owner of an establishment, to never be too proud to do any and all tasks you ask your staff to do. I now own my own business in another state far away and remember what I learned long ago with my own staff. When I come back to visit my family I always look forward to stoping by for my favorite Sandwich IL food - A Gene’s beef roll with extra crispy French fries (one of the few places that actually makes them extra crispy when I ask). "
